Barry was born in South West Scotland where the great poet Robert Burns died 200 years ago. Nothing much else has happened there, so he escaped.

After travelling through Europe and the US he found himself in Australia in 1989 working as a Quantity Surveyor. With the collapse of the construction industry and the subsequent IT boom, he moved into Project Management - studying his Masters degree at the University of NSW.

With organisational downsizing in 1998 and a ‘voluntary redundancy’ up his sleeve, a break from the construction industry came. An opportunity arose to study his MBA - which he did in a year, majoring in Strategic Management at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.

Since then he has worked on a consultant basis on a variety of strategic management and performance projects; from hosting association conferences, to leading bid teams in tendering major project joint ventures.

Always with the belief that ‘laughter is good for the soul’ the stage was set for Barry’s personality’s lighter side to ‘let loose’. The last ten years have also been spent writing, performing and producing comedy.

His Scottish brogue and affable style provides a warm yet edgy balance to any performance. He reads the audience and encourages productive participation to enhance any show or event.
